Chapter 3: The truth revealed.
School started again today, since Joey stayed at Nagisa's place since the past few days they have become a lot closer with each other. There were no attacks in the weekend at Joey.
"Could the assassins have given up? Its been awfully peaceful with me the past few days, maybe they got tired of me?" Joey said.
"Well be happy about it! I don't like it when people are in danger:" Nagisa said a bit frustrated.
"I'm going to miss the attention though, it as kind of cool" Joey said with a smile on his face.
Before they reached school they talked a lot about the Blue Letters and what might be the thing the strange robed man might wanted to see them about. As they entered the school building everything went peaceful as a normal schooldays. But as the bell rang for their break, Joey and Nagisa walked to the cafeteria towards Dennis.
"Hey guys, anything happened this weekend?" Dennis asked curiously.
"Not really, it has been quite-" Before Joey could even finish his line, the sound of shattering glass boomed across the cafeteria.
"Whats happening?!" Joey yelled. At that moment, everything seemed to stop moving. Dennis and Nagisa were frozen to their spot. The same went for all the other students. Joey could even see someone who was about to sneeze but was completely still. A bright flash illuminated the cafeteria for a fraction of a second. Joey covered his eyes until the flash was gone. When he could see again, he could see the man in the white robes in front of him.
"We do not have much time Sir" The robed man said.
"Sir? And what do you mean? What's happening here?!" Joey said in frustration
"I need you to hold your hands up and believe in yourself, when I sent you back I can't say anything more right now! Have faith and God be with thou!" The robed man replied. As he finished his sentence, it seemed like everything started to move again. Nagisa and Dennis started to run away.
"Monsters! Demons! Run Joey!" Nagisa said as she started running away. Following Nagisa and Dennis, were strange looking dogs. They had scales instead of fur on their bodies and there were sharp spikes placed all over their bodies. It almost seemed like Hell itself spawned them.
"Hold up my hands... And believe" Joey repeated in himself. He nodded and braced himself. He raised his arms and hands in the air.
"I believe... I believe that this all is real, I believe I can do something about it!"`with those words, a bright light appeared right above Joey. The dog-looking Demons stood still to observe what was happening. Joey groaned as he could feel something get dropped in his hands. It was heavy. It was pretty big to his idea. When the light faded away, a light blue sword could be seen in his hands. Joey lowered his weapon and looked at it for a little. With this in his hands, he decided that it was his job to protect everyone in the school now!
"I hope you're ready, Demons! Because now you'll face me!" Joey said. He felt good. Strong and indestructible. With this sword in his hands it was like he was a whole other person. The Demons didn't hesitate to accept this challenge. One of the dog Demons jumped over to Joey with a great leap in the air. Joey braced himself and clenched his sword in his hands, making a quick diagonal slice into the air, splitting the Demon in half, letting it's body melt all over the floor.
"Wow... I can really do this! I can do this!" Joey said with even more confidence in his voice. He smirked as he looked over to the other Demons, who didn't seem to happy about getting one of their own slain like that. They bared their teeth as they all made a dash towards Joey, who did the exact same. In this fight, it almost seemed like he had been doing nothing else but practice with that sword. His movements were so fluently, every slice he made landed and the Demons couldn't even touch him.
"Hyaah!" he exclaimed as he sliced down the last Demon. He panted heavily. He wiped off his forehead from the sweat.
"That must've been the last one..." Joey said to himself
as some people returned to the cafeteria, they saw only the blooded bodies of the monsters and Joey holding his sword. Joey noticed everyone looking a bit scared at him. He held his sword up and yelled a victory cry.
"I have defeated the monsters! We are safe!"
suddenly everyone began cheering and giving applause at Joey, even the teachers were cheering for him. For the first time in a lot of years, something dangerous, exiting and adventurous happened to his life. He couldn't be happier for this to have happened. But as they were cheering for Joey the robed man walked up to Joey and everyone became silent.
"You have done well" The robed man said.
Joey looked at the robed man and was silent for a moment. He pointed the sword at the robed man and became serious.
"Could you maybe now tell me what has been happening in my life, and what those things were?" Joey asked.
the man moved Joey's sword aside and you could hear a faint laugh coming from the hood of the man.
"Indeed.. get your girlfriend here and we'll be leaving."
Nagisa came walking to the robed man, having a red face.
" He's not my boyfriend!" she said frustrated.
The robed man laughed at Nagisa but did not reply to her yelling.
"I will erase the memory of these humans and we will be on our way"
Before Joey or Nagisa could say anything about what the man said, a bright light came up and suddenly they disappeared from the cafeteria.. or their school. Then, everything became dark.
As Joey came to again, he shot up from a laying position. His eyes opened but immediately closed again. He rubbed his eyes and slowly opened them again. Everything was so bright. Everything was white and blue. It almost seemed like they were in the skies. Joey slowly stood up, picking up his sword which was beside him.
"What is place? Am I dead or something?" Joey asked himself.
He started walking towards something which looked like a house. It was made of bright white stones. And next to it was another. And another. He knocked on the doors of all of them, but no one answered.
"Where am I? Is this Heaven or something?." He asked confused.
"Correct" someone said
Joey looked behind him and he saw the robed man standing right in front of him.
"What do you mean? You mean this is Heaven or something?" Joey asked as he looked confused around himself trying to understand why he landed in heaven.
"Is this a joke? Everything looks cloudy and light but this can't possibly be Heaven!". He said.
The robed man laughed a little and then he took a closer look at Joey.
"You believe this is Heaven, I know you have been praying for something to happen, aren't you happy that it finally happened?" The robed man asked.
"Yeah well.. I think so.. but I never really expected for something to happen". He was silent for a moment until he realized that Nagisa wasn't here.
"Where is Nagisa? What happened to her?" He asked in a hurry.
The robed man smiled and pointed to a big castle.
"She's already at the castle, I found her before I found you so she's safe"
Joey looked at the castle and then back at the robed man.
"Then that is where we will be going, you lead the way". He said in a c commanding tone.
"Very well then" and the robed man started walking. As they walked to the castle the robed man started to talk to Joey about himself. It seemed that he was called Krad, someone who was sent to collect Joey. And that he would hear more once he would be re-united with Nagisa. As they entered the huge white castle Joey was amazed by everything that was in there, armed guards, shining armors and strangely, people kneeling for him! After a while they entered a great hall where Nagisa was too.
"Joey! you're safe!" she said and she ran towards Joey hugging him tight.
"Of course I am, if I can chop down some weird wolf monsters I can manage in this heaven" He said full of confidence.
"I'm just glad you're here now, these people were really nice though!" she said with a smile on her face.
"You two should walk through the door right there, although once you do so, your lives will change forever and there will be no turning back" He pointed at the door and kept silent.
"What should we do Joey?" Nagisa asked.
"I don't know what you're going to do, but I've come to far in life to give up now!"
"Could the assassins have given up? Its been awfully peaceful with me the past few days, maybe they got tired of me?" Joey said.
