Chapter 1 The beginning
Chapter 1: The beginning.
Our story begins with a young man at age 16. he is your regular kind of guy who is always in his mind thinking about things were people usually don't think about: fighting, Magic and other mythical beings. His name is Joey.
Darkness. Something which wasn't new in the dreams of any human being. Joey was sound asleep but when his alarm sounded around 5:00 am, his eyes shot open and made his hand slam on the alarm clock. He rubbed his eyes with both his hands and looked over to a small callender which was near him.
"First day of school..." He grumbled. It was indeed the first school day but as usual he didn't feel like going to school but like always he did go to school. He always thought: " something cool might happen today! " but day after day, year after year nothing interesting happened. And so he stumbled out of his bed, stretching himself out. He rubbed his eyes a few more times before scratching his brown hair ontop of his head, which fell about over his ears. He made his way over to the bathroom to take a quick shower and then have some breakfast. The warm beams of hot water felt good at an early morning. After his shower, he dries himself off and puts on his usual clothes. A gray shirt with a white blouse over it, combined with a normal set of blue jeans. He runs down the stairs to find that no one was awake yet, which was normal, considering not everyone wakes up at 5 in the morning. He quickly takes a slice of bread from the cupboard and heads back upstairs into his room. For 16 years, nothing has happened to Joey or to his environment. He opens the door an secures it locks before her starts running. When the time becomes 7:00 am he heads back downstairs.. As he walks in the living room he finds his parents sitting there as usual at that time.
"morning mum, dad ". his parents are pretty moody in the morning so they don't really reply to him. As an hour passes by Joey is getting ready to go to school.
"I really hope something is happening today ". That is what he said to himself every day before he went to school, but nothing really ever happened.
"I'm going to school dad, mum!" They didn't reply to him and he gets his bike and heads for school. On the way to school he isn't as alert as usual. He is always imagining about the things that could happen. So he usually doesn't ride to school with any friends his thoughts aren't there anyway.
The ride was short but it was a long way in Joey's mind. When he saw the bright white school building come in sight, he let out a soft sigh. There it was again. Even though he was in his senior year of high school, Joey wasn't too excited about it at all. With his mind in other places again, Joey did not notice that on the other side of the road, there was a car which was driving insanely fast. Almost as if it's purpose was to hit something or someone. When Joey looked infront of himself, he saw how the car was aiming towards him. He wanted to dodge the car by steering the other way but the speed of the car was greater than that of Joey and made an impact head-on with Joey. He landed ontop of the car, then spinning off and falling onto the ground with his face first as the car speeded off again. A lot of students from the school who saw the accident happen, rushed to Joey's aid but without a scratch Joey rises from the rock hard ground
"I'm fine? But how?" He asked himself in surprise. He wasn't just surprised by the fact that something exciting really happened today at school but more about the fact that after something like that, he didn't feel any pain at all. From the crowd, one of Joey's friends approached him. It was Dennis, whom Joey met in his second year in high school Dennis was always a fellow who enjoyed joking around every now and then and he was always marked with his bright blonde hair which fell to his shoulders.
"Dude, are you okay? That car totally hit you! You should be dead!" He said with amazement. Joey didn't reply at first. He looked over at hi bike which was being recovered from the streets by some other students. It seemed completely broken and beyond repair.
"That didn't just seem like an accident... Did you see who hit me?" Joey asked Dennis who was a bit shaking because he saw everything
"Does that really matter right now? You're fine and school is starting, we should get going" Dennis replied of that. Joey sighed and the the two of them leave the school gates and enter the school building.
As the two of them enter the classroom, everyone is talking about the accident which happened just outside the school gates.
"Did you hear? Joey got into an accident so bad that he should be dead!" Someone said. That someone was Rob, who was also in a car accident and broke his back. But that was a long time ago. Joey sighed and looked around himself. People were looking at him and whispering. He stood up and took in a breath.
"Will you people stop it? If any one of you wants me dead, then say so!" Joey said. The class fell quiet. No one said a word anymore. At that time, Joey's homeroom teacher Miss.Gerzon came into the room. She had also heard about the accident and asked Joey if he could stay after class for a little talk. He left a big sigh and accepted the request. Throughout the day nothing interesting happened as always and he left to go see his homeroom Teacher.
"Ah Joey, come right in and lets talk" He walked into her office and sits down on the chair she appointed him too.
"You had quite an accident there didn't you? It was quite amazing you don't even have a scratch" Joey was getting annoyed again of the fact she too is talking the same way as the class
"I was lucky, but I don't think it was an accident". He said.
"what do you mean? Who would do such a thing?". She asked a bit surprised.
"I don't know ma'am but by the looks of my bike, is sure wasn't an accident that's for sure". Both of them were silent for a moment.
"You should go home now Joey, your parents might be worried about you". As he left the teachers office and starts walking home since his bike was totally messed up. While he was walking home he was thinking about all sorts of things: Why did that car hit him? Why did the driver choose him? And especially, why was he still alive? Although he was annoyed by his classmates asking the same thing over and over again. He too was wondering about it, why was he still alive? As he was near to his house new questions came up... but none were answered. As he walks into his own street he sees a
crowd gathered in front of his own house.
"What the.. What happened here?!" He started running to his house, which was completely destroyed, but there were no bodies. He wrestled through the crowd to take a better look
"Out of the way! This is my house! Get moving!" He was shocked by the sight of his own house so much crumbled away from the earth.
"What in the name of God happened here?" The crowd became silent and he said those words, and the police came up to him.
"young man, is this your house you said? Then follow me" The officer said. Joey nodded followed the police officer as he guided Joey to his small van.
"What's your name?" the Policeman asked.
"Its Joey, but get to the point, what happened here?" the policeman was quiet for a little while and then said:
"Honestly.. we have no Idea, there are no bodies in the house or in near it.. it seems like your family completely disappeared" The policeman looked down a he brought the bad news.
"How could that be possible... strange things have been happening today" Joey said. The policeman looked a bit confused and asked:
"What do you mean Joey? Has there been something else today? Something that could help us?". Joey was thinking whether he should tell him about the car accident or not..
"I uhm.. well.. there was a car accident today.. the car crashed into me.. but it didn't seem like an accident, I'd say he as aiming to hit me." The Policeman looked confused and then grabbed for his bag, getting out something which looked like a blue envelope
"Maybe it was an assassination..or was meant to be.. here.. this has your name on it, we didn't open it yet though" Joey reached for the blue envelope with only his name on it.
"What is this Sir? Haven't you opened it yet?" Joey asked.
"No.. we didn't want to open it before this Joey, you, came here or not. You open it, we'll look together, maybe it contains a clue". Joey nodded and he opened the letter. "well? What is it?" the policeman asked. Joey looked at the letter and he became silent. After a while he said:
"These.. are.. some strange symbols.. I don't even think they exist. Here have a look." Joey handed the letter to the policeman with the thoughts he might know the symbols.
"I never seen these symbols before.. maybe its fake..or a prank" They both were silent for a little while until Joey stood up.
"I won't find out anything if I keep sitting here... I should move to somewhere else" The policeman looked disturbed, maybe a bit mad.
"How could you be so untouched? you're whole family just disappeared and you're house is completely destroyed!" the policeman turned red from anger, but Joey had a quick reply to that.
"If this was an assassination to kill my family.. I should move fast, before they find out I am still alive" The policeman looked up and came to his senses.
"You're absolutely right! We must bring you somewhere safe!" suddenly the door to the van opened and a second policeman appeared.
"I heard you're little conversation, but don't you think the 'assassins' would most likely expect us to bring him somewhere safe?" the two policeman and Joey were quiet for a little moment.
"you're absolutely right! I should continue with my life until we know more about these so called assassins." both of the policeman agreed and Joey could stay for the time being with Dennis.
After having explained the entire situation to Dennis, he agreed into letting Joey stay at his house for the time being. And for the first time in a long, long time, Joey actually overslept himself.
"Wow, are you always such a sleepyhead?" Dennis asked.
"No, not at all... Usually I'm up at 5 am.. I guess I'm just a bit unsettled because of the things which have been happening lately. They both chuckled and had some quick breakfast before heading out to school. They both walked since it wasn't too far from Dennis' house either. Joey brought the blue envelope with him in his bag, maybe one of the teachers at school would be able to translate these strange symbols.
"You know... For a lot of years I always prayed that something exciting like you see in animé and games would happen to me as well. But now that it's really happening, my family dissapeared..."Joey said while putting his hands in his pockets. Dennis said nothing as he was looking down to the floor.
"Joey.. all things happen with a reason.. except all this.. I don't know anyone who would want to hurt you or your family" Dennis said.
"I know Dennis I know" Joey replied to that. When they reached one of the more bussier roads, Dennis let out a big, annoyed sigh.
"It's always so busy here on this road! This is why I never walk!" Dennis said. And as he did, the lights turned green, showing they could walk. "Magic touch huh? Let's go Joey" He continued with a chucckle. As the two of them crossed the street, Joey could hear screeching tires from not too far away. Joey looked over to his side to see the same car which hit him the other day. His eyes widened as he looked at Dennis.
"It's the same car as yesterday! Dennis, get out of the way!" Dennis ran away safely to the side of the street. The car was reaching towards Joey.
"Wait a minute I don't see a driver in there" He said. Suddenly the car went from a high speed to a extreme fast speed in a fraction of a second! Suddenly Joey's body became weak and made an enormous jump right over the car. He looked behind himself but the car disappeared. In the meanwhile a lot of curious drivers walked out of their car to see what might have happened. Joey stood there for a little while and the hurried to Dennis looking amazed at Joey.
"Dude! How did you do that! And why did he do that?" he asked thrilled.
"I don't know Dennis..I truly don't know.."
